Paris day 8 : the D'Orsay.

Walking around Paris is such a pleasure, you never know when you will see a charming scene like this one with the blooming trees matching the paint someone splattered on the wall.
Today was the day for the Musee D'Orsay. This large museum has an amazing collection of French Impressionist art, both early and late, Art Nouveau and much much more. Unlike our last visit there, you are no longer permitted to take photos. This caused Bob some consternation at first but he soon adapted to taking notes instead.
We did take this one secret photo from one of the upper passage ways. We loved seeing many familiar paintings from the two art shows that came to the De Young several years ago from this museum and the special Van Gogh exhibit. Our biggest surprise was the special exhibit on the artist and illustrator, Doré. We were enthralled by the breadth and depth and scope of his work.
Here we all are taking a must needed lunch break.

Croque Madame for Bob.

Onion soup and pureed vegetable soup for Gen and myself.

Outside the museum Bob got busy taking more photos after his hiatus inside.

The D'Orsay from  the bridge.

It was still such a lovely afternoon that we strolled across the river to the Tulleries to enjoy the sights.

April in Pairs !!

Genevieve looking very French.

Redbud in bloom.

The Place de la Concorde and the Arc in the distance.

Family selfie.

For dinner we chose a random restaurant near our flat, Parnasse 138.

My meal began with this very tasty lentil salad with feta cheese and olive oil.

Bob shared his "Fine Claire" oysters with us, they were like a kiss from the ocean.

Genna's main course was the best of the three, rabbit stuffed with mushrooms.

Our dessert were amazing and the perfect finish to our meal, several of us waddled home and fell immediately into bed.
Soft meringue floating in caramel sauce.

Apple with puff pastry and brandy.
